Major space expo of NASA's 'Human Adventure' opens in Stockholm

The exhibition will be displaying over 400 items of memorabilia, many shown for the first time

Tekniska museet (The National Museum of Science and Technology) in Stockholm will be hosting the world premiere of NASA - A Human Adventure, an exhibition of 400 authentic items, many on display for the first time.

The exhibition will then embark on a several-year-long tour of Europe and the United States.

Swedish astronaut Christer Fuglesang is enthusiastic: "It's great that Stockholm and Tekniska museet get to put on an exhibition of this magnitude. It's a chance to showcase developments in space technology research and to further increase public knowledge and interest," says Fuglesang.

NASA - A Human Adventure was initiated by the John Nurminen Prima Group's Dutch head office. Earlier in the week, US Ambassador Matthew Barzun was present when Fred Weijgertse, head of John Nurminen Prima and Ann Follin, head of Tekniska museet, signed an agreement stating that Stockholm will be hosting the opening of the tour.

"We are delighted that Stockholm and The National Museum of Science and Technology will be hosting the largest touring space exhibition ever," says Ann Follin, head of Tekniska museet.

"Space travel has always and will always be a fascinating subject to grown-ups and children alike. There are also clear connections to technology and research and development."

"We want to give the Swedish people a real space adventure," says Fred Weijgertse, CEO of John Nurminen Prima.

The exploration of space is explained through a number of evocative installations, from the first space rocket launches to modern exploration of space beyond our solar system. The 2,000 m2 exhibition includes over 400 original items or replicas including space capsules, engines, space suits, telescopes and satellites, many of which have never been shown before.

A Human Adventure was producedby John Nurminen Prima in co-operation with NASA, Discovery Channel, The State Museum of the History of Cosmonautics in Moscow, the Kansas Cosmosphere and Space Center, and White Room Artifacts.

The exhibition has just opened and closes on November 6, 2011 when it will continue on a tour of Europe and the United States. Tekniska museet in Stockholm will probably be the only venue in Scandinavia.
