Lady Gaga's Gucci heels step up to help Christchurch earthquake victims

The US singer's size 39 heels are expected to attract interest at an online auction, this month

Lady Gaga will auction a pair of her signed Gucci heels to raise money for victims of the earthquake in Christchurch, New Zealand earlier this year.

An estimated 181 people lost their lives in the February disaster, which has prompted a series of charity auctions, including that of a home-wrecking boulder.

Lady Gaga's faux crocodile size 39s will form part of the Rise Up Christchurch - Te Kotahitanga Telethon on May 22 and are sure to be popular with collectors of music memorabilia.

"They are serious celebrity property and definitely worn - even if just once - by the artist herself," say telethon organisers.

The US singer is well known for her outlandish footwear and recently performed on a stiletto-shaped piano.

Will Lady Gaga fade into obscurity like
Skelmersdale’s finest, Sonia?

Although the shoes are expected to make a good sum for charity the long-term investment potential for Lady Gaga items is debatable. Time will tell whether Ms Gaga is the next Madonna or will disappear from the public consciousness like late 80's star Sonia.
