Gooding & Co sets pulses racing with its 2011 Scottsdale car auction line-up

Classic car collectors are already looking forward to 2011, and with five very good reasons...

Gooding & Company have announced a partial line-up for the upcoming 2011 Scottsdale classic car auction, listing their first five auction highlights, and straight away car collectors have something to be excited about.

From legendary missing cars to modern Hollywood stars the sale looks set to have something for everyone, and if this selection is anything to go by the full line-up should be equally spectacular.

At the top of their list is a 1953 Fiat 8V Supersonic, a museum-quality car and the very first of only 12 ever built. It embodies the very best of the Jet Age era design, and is expected to sell for an incredible $1.1m - $1.4m.

Second is the 1948 Tucker, No. 1010, a car missing for over 50 years where it spent its time hidden away in a private barn. It is presented in a remarkable near-original condition, having just 10,000 miles on the clock and no restoration. With only 51 Tucker cars ever built, and just 47 known to still exist, each one has developed an almost mythical status and the sale of this car should prove one of the most highly-anticipated of the auction.

Also announced as part of the sale are:

 - A stunning 1930 Duesenberg Model J Dual Cowl Phaeton, one of the best surviving barrel-side Phaetons in existence retaining its original chassis, engine and body with an estimated price of $1.2m - $1.6m.

- A 1933 Stutz DV-32 Dual Cowl Phaeton, the only model known in existence to survive on its original DV-32 chassis, with a pre-sale estimate of $500,000 - $650,000

- A California-built 2005 Saleen S7 as featured in the blockbuster hit film 'Iron Man' starring Robert Downey Jr. Featuring a twin turbo-charged, 1,000 hp V8-engine, it's priced at $300,000 - $400,000.

With only five cars announced, Gooding & Company have already sent a tingle down the spines of car collectors across the globe, and that tingle should turn into a definite buzz when their full list is announced. With the market already celebrating 2010 as an exceptional year for classic car sales, it looks like 2011 could get off to a racing start too.
