Seven days until RM Auctions' 'most significant ever' classic cars sale

The 1964 Shelby Cobra USRRC Roadster and Diana Dors's Roadster are among the highlights

In just one week, RM Auctions will take center-stage in Monterey, US, with a sale billed as its "largest and most significant offering ever."

Among the exceptional highlights will be a 1949 Delahaye Type 175 S Roadster formerly owned by the British blonde bombshell, Diana Dors (you can read more about it here) estimated at $4,000,000-$6,000,000.

Purchased new by Sir John Gaul for the starlet, this is a concours award-winner both in period and today. It boasts stunning Saoutchik coachwork and a superb restoration, with a one-of-a-kind streamlined design.

Also appearing at RM's extravaganza is this 1958 Ferrari 250 "Pontoon Fender" Testa Rossa - one of only 21 pontoon Fender TRs ever built, for which estimates are available on request.

With matching-numbers and a complete race-prepared spare 250 TR engine, this is rightly described by RM as "one of the most desirable and rare sports racing Ferraris ever built."

Elsewhere among the highlights is a coveted racer with an unblemished history: the 1964 Shelby Cobra USRRC Roadster.

CSX 2557 is one of only six USRRC cars built, and one of the most original and unmolested of all the famed Shelby Cobra 289 racing cars.

It will be offered without reserve, and carries a staggering estimate of $1,200,000-$1,500,000.

Previews for RM's Sports & Classic of Monterey event begins next Wednesday, August 11, and starts the following day. The final cars roll off the auction block on Saturday 14.
