Posters of the singer from past tours, particularly those from the 1970s, can exchange hands for hundreds of dollars while signed guitars can achieve similar amounts.

Three items of jewellery once owned by Mr Pop sold at a Bonhams auction in 2010. The biggest seller was a scorpion design keychain, which made £264.

While not yet commanding huge prices, there is a market for the proto-punker's collectibles. Dare we say it, but when the great performer finally departs the scene, the clamour for his memorabilia could skyrocket, pushing prices to new levels.
