Che Guevara fishing photo reels in £6.6k
We've all seen this iconic Guevara image. Now another has sold... with him holding a fishing rod
For years Che Guevara's iconic image has graced the front of t-shirts and students' bedroom walls, but now an image of him relaxing with a fishing rod has sold for six figures at auction.
It sold with a collection of photographs taken and signed by Alberto Korda, Fidel Castro's personal photographer, in the '60s and '70s.
Featuring Che Guevara relaxing with a fishing rod sometime in the 1960s, the silver print on fibre paper is one of only 50 produced, numbered 0001/50, and signed and dated by Korda in 1978.

Cropped and enlarged from a larger better known photograph, it shows the back of Fidel Castro's head. Castro is reportedly seated to his left.
Above an estimate of £1,500-2,000, it sold for £6,600.
Other highlights in the sale included Fidel Castro and Camilo Cienfuegos entering Havana on January 8, 1959, sold for £4,000, Castro and Ernest Hemingway shaking hands, sold for £2,300.
Korda was Fidel Castro's personal photographer for 10 years before moving on to underwater photography in the late-1970s. He died of a heart attack in 2001, while presenting an exhibition of his work.
