Jackson-Presley marriage certificate brings $70k
The pop legend is officially among the most valuable signatures, as proved at auction last weekend
The original marriage certificate from the wedding of pop legend Michael Jackson and Lisa Marie Presley, on May 26, 1994 in the Dominican Republic, has auctioned for $70,800.
It was sold by Philip Weiss Auction in its January 22-24 memorabilia sale.
Around 1,300 lots were sold at the weekend sale in Oceanside, US, which reportedly grossed a total of $700,000.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, the Jackson-Presley document emerged as the star of the show.

The wedding certificate has been described by some as one of the most important celebrity documents of the 20th century - up there with the wedding licenses of Prince Charles and Princess Diana, and Marilyn Monroe and Joe DiMaggio.

Some 200 people attended the sale, with another 1,000 bidders participating online. The Jackson-Presley certificate eventually sold to an online bidder.
The 8 ½ inch x 10 ¾ inch laminated document bears the autographs of both stars, and was also signed by State Official Hugo F Perez.
Values of handwritten Jackson memorabilia have skyrocketed since his death in July of last year.
In November, 2009, the star's handwritten lyrics to Beat It, his early-'80s hit single, sold for $60,000 in New York.
This sale placed Jackson among the 'autograph league big hitters' - including George Washington ($32,818), King Henry VIII (selling at $29,500-40,000) and Neil Armstrong ($27,350).
