William Shatner Star Trek costume makes $15,000

William Shatner wore the costume in the first Star Trek movie

A Starfleet uniform William Shatner wore in Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1979) led a sale of memorabilia from the franchise at Propworx.

It realised $15,000 in the September 10 sale.

The film was the first big screen outing for Star Trek and starred the cast of the original series. The crew's iconic costumes were given a redesign by costume maker Robert Fletcher.

Other highlights included the radiation helmet Spock wore in The Naked Time from the original series. It made $5,000.
