Romanée-Conti Burgundy

Wines of 'the greatest collector of Burgundy' Don Stott come to Acker

The auctioneer is planning some very special events in the next few months, especially in Chicago

As we've reported, Acker has two important fine wine auctions coming up in September, one in New York and one in Hong Kong.

But in addition, later this autumn, Acker will launch its inaugural Chicago auction on October 22 at the Trump International Hotel. While it's too soon for particulars about the auction to have been listed in full, some excellent collections have been offered.

"There are few cities in the world that have the energy and commitment to wine to support and sustain a wine auction, and Chicago is certainly one of them.

"The Midwest has long been an outstanding source for some of America's greatest collections, and that's why we're there," noted Kapon.

While Bordeaux may dominate the business of the wine auction market, many argue that Burgundy dominates the pleasure, and it is Burgundy that will steal the autumn spotlight thanks to the extraordinary and legendary collection of Don Stott, the world's foremost collector of Burgundy of our modern-day era.

"Don is without question the greatest collector of Burgundy that I have ever known. His cellar is literally a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to acquire the finest and rarest Burgundies available - period."

Well, make it twice, as Don's collection will be on display both October 29th in New York, and November 4th-5th in Hong Kong.

New York's October sale will take place at Restaurant Daniel, marking Acker's first auction at the first destination in the culinary mecca of New York.

"I always dine at Daniel for the most special of occasions, and Don's auction will be one of them."

All eyes will be on Hong Kong for a mega-event the first week of November, where some of Burgundy's elite winemakers and proprietaires will be there personally to celebrate Don's Fete de Bourgogne.
