Video of the Week: Jaeger-LeCoultre honours Al Pacino at the Venice Film Festival

Since 2005 the great watchmaker has presented awards and timepieces as part of its support

This year's Jaeger-LeCoultre Glory to the Filmmaker Award honoured Al Pacino and his achievements as a filmmaker. The celebrated actor and director presented his third movie in Venice, Wilde Salome.

The awards ceremony took place on Sunday September 4th during the 68th Venice International Film Festival (August 31st - September 10th 2011)

Jaeger-LeCoultre is actively involved in all the highlights of the event, adorning the stars with its finest creations and presenting a personalised Reverso watch to the winners.

Three unique models will thus reward the Best Actress and Best Actor of the year, as well as the Best Film, the Golden Lion Award.

The watches feature a lacquered engraving depicting a lion, the symbol of Venice, handcrafted in accordance with the finest traditions, and bear the inscription "68. Mostra Internazionale d'Arte Cinematografica".

Jessica Chastain (who plays Salome in the film) presented the prize to Al Pacino. It was with deep emotion that the actress (a talent discovered by Al Pacino) expressed how honored she was to give the prize to Al Pacino and underlined Jaeger-LeCoultre's involvement in the world of cinema:

"I am proud to present this award to Mr. Pacino on behalf of Jaeger-LeCoultre. Jaeger-LeCoultre's commitment to film is sincere, longstanding and ever increasing with their support of not only the Venice Film Festival but Shanghai as well, working to help recognize both upcoming and confirmed actors, directors and producers.

"They are delighted to honour Mr Pacino's outstanding contribution to the world of film and to help him celebrate Wild Salome by presenting him with an engraved watch, symbolizing the time dedicated to making art."

Previously the award has distinguished Takeshi Kitano in 2007, Agnès Varda and Abbas Kirostami in 2008, Sylvester Stallone in 2009 and Indian film director Mani Ratnam in 2010.
