Last chance to bid on ‘$189m’ Titanic auction – closes April 2

5,500 artefacts salvaged from the Titanic form one of the most spectacular lots in auction history

As we approach the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic on April 15, 5,500 artefacts from the ship, salvaged from the watery depths of the Atlantic, are being auctioned in a single lot in the US.

Bids on the items, which are estimated to achieve in the region of $189m, close on April 2, with the results announced later in the month.

Here, Arlan Ettinger, the president of Guernsey's auction house, takes us through some of the highlights, including a large section of the ship's hull.
