Are you looking for a collectible linked to a person from history, which could also bring you a return on your investment in future years? Then the more important that person, and stronger their legacy, the better.
Like Thomas Edison who, today in history, 1880, received the patent for his electric incandescent lamp. Edison remains most famous for his light bulb, which forever changed the way we live our lives.
But what was he doing in the years prior to his breakthrough innovation?
The answer is: he was working in the operating room of the Gold & Stock Telegraph Company, having arrived in New York City indebted and penniless in 1869. But this is only part of the story, thanks to a chance opportunity which gave Edison's genius a moment to shine.
One ordinary day, the company's ticker equipment broke down. Nobody was able to fix it - except Edison. His talent saw him get promoted to superintendent, after which he didn't waste any time. Edison soon after formed a partnership with telegraph engineer Franklin L Pope. This was still during 1869.

The pair set about radically improving stock tickers. This resulted in several new patented inventions, including the Unison Device and the Universal Stock Ticker.
At Paul Fraser Collectibles, we have Thomas Edison's Stock Ticker Tape Machine for sale. This is an original and authentic example of Edison's 19th century invention. It is engraved "M'F'D. BY T.A. EDISON. INC."
For the first time, investors and traders all over America could receive up-to-the-minute news on the stock markets. Aged just 22 - and years before his light bulb - Edison had already forever changed the way people lived their lives.
Also in our stock is a rare manuscript signed by Edison - autographed not once, but three times. The manuscript is the Annual Report of the Edison Spanish Colonial Light Company. Click here to find out more.
