Caille Quintette slot machine

Antique Caille Quintette slot machine could bring the money in for Las Vegas auction

Victorian Casino Antiques will be selling a variety of slot machines including a Caille Quintette

Victorian Casino Antiques will be holding its first auction of 2012 on January 14-15 with approximately 550 lots of top quality coin-op gambling, vending and trade stimulators offered each day.

A live audience of over 400 in Las Vegas, Nevada is expected to compete with hundreds of internet and absentee bidders (with the help of LiveAuctioneers).

No doubt the company will be hoping for some impressive results as slot machines and similar antiques have been drawing increasing interest from collectors in recent times. Notably Morphy's sale of the Bob Levy collection saw a 5c Horse Race slot machine leap to $36,000 with an overall sales total of $1.86m.

The auction will feature an array of items including all types of coin-operated devices such as slot machines, arcade games, vending machines and trade stimulators. There will also be hundreds of advertising signs, jukeboxes, Coca-Cola, saloon and barbershop items.

Heading the list of antique slot machines is a circa 1901 Caille Quintette, a penny and nickel play machine that featured five sets of card reels. This rare slot is in great condition and has a high estimate at $100,000.

A rare coin-op from the same era is a Malaussena Co. French peanut machine made in America by the Mills Novelty Co. One of only two known examples, this vendor could top out at more than $25,000.

In the antique advertising category, a rare poster for the 1915 Cleveland Auto Show printed by Otis Lithograph Co. could hit $30,000.

Victorian Casino Antiques will sell the majority of the Melvin and Anne Getlan coin-op collection on May 4-6. This could be one of the premier auction events of the year. Watch this space for more news of this exciting sale.
