Ferrari classic cars of all eras including a Lusso, Daytona and Berlinetta were auctioned in Scottsdale

Here's another look at some of the top classic cars auctioned in Scottsdale over the weekend, as some of the world's top auctioneers and collectors flooded into Arizona.

Several Ferraris were among the classic automobiles sold. They attracted clientele from all around the world, including a strong showing from European collectors.

We've already reported on the rare 1959 Ferrari 250 GT California Spider - you can read more about that car here. Here are some of our other favourites, each of which found new homes with collectors in Scottsdale...

1963 Ferrari 250 GT Lusso Berlinetta

Famous Ferrari 250 GT Lusso Berlinetta drivers include rocker Eric Clapton. This car wasn't Eric's, but still boasted a rarity and provenance that saw it command a $979,000 final price.

This car, S/n 4459 GT, was built July 4, 1963 and bought by a Sicilian. The 250 GT Lusso was intended as a street car, which didn't stop some owners entering their cars in sporting events. This car boasts competition history and the V-12 power of a Ferrari chassis.

1973 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona Spyder

The definitive version of the front-engine V-12 Ferrari concept, the 365 GTB/4 is an instantly iconic classic car. This rare automobile was offered for the first time in 23 years, and eventually brought $990,000.

The Daytona was only intended as an 'interim' model for the long awaited 365 GT4. Yet its sheer speed saw the car become a firm favourite among Ferrari enthusiasts, loved for its front-mounted V-12 dating to before Ferrari joined the rising trend for mid-engine "supercars".

1991 Ferrari F40 Berlinetta

Speaking of mid-engine "supercars", the 1991 Ferrari F40 Berlinetta remains an icon of its era. This example provoked a lively bidding war and achieved a record price of $781,000 in Scottsdale.

This example not only has fewer than 300 miles on the clock, it also boasts celebrity provenance. The car was first delivered new to Chrysler impresario Lee Iacocca - who also happens to be a friend of noted car collector Tammy Allen. 

The car has had just two owners since Mr Iacocca. Since it was first introduced, the classic Ferrari F40 Berlinetta still offers a shock to the senses with its radical stylings and 471 bhp (SAE), 2,936 cc mid-mounted V-8 engine.
