David Feldman sells unique collection of European and British stamp rarities
A number of rarities will star among the 400 lots being sold - including an unusual cover from Bolivia
A wonderful collection of unique European and British stamps is being put up for sale next week by specialist philatelic auctioneers David Feldman.
The substantial assortment of rarities, made up of 400 lots, will be auctioned on Monday June 27. Philatelists will no doubt be drawn by items like this unusual cover sent from Bolivia in 1876, which contains rare four pence and six pence British stamps, and Bolivian postal cancelation marks.
Valued at €20,000 ($28,772), it is certainly a unique item which would take pride of place in any collection, especially given its superb condition.

Another incredibly rare lot being sold is the only known 19th century cover which was sent from Denmark to Ireland. The 1866 registered cover from Copenhagen to Dublin has been given an estimated value of €10,000 ($14,393).
It contains an extremely uncommon Denmark (Crown) Registered hand stamp on the lower right corner, and has been described as an 'attractive' item.
For those with an interest in investing in rare animal mail, there is a unique Pigeon Post cover from August 23 1899. Described as the only one known flimsy of the First Day of Issue, the message on it says it was the 'first pigeongram from Marotiri' in New Zealand.

As only one other flimsy with this issue is known, with a different date, this is a very fine collectible and an important airmail rarity.
Other lots of note include an Egyptian 1872 6d Pale Chestnut plate, and two 1855 Norwegian Lion stamps, which are one of only three unused pairs of this type.
David Feldman have enjoyed some very successful sales recently, not least the auctioning of a 1948 Gandhi overprint last month for a record price of $205,000.
