Syed Haider Raza's Terre Rouge will stand out as the top-lot in an online auction of respected artists set to close on April 26, 2012.
Bidding has already begun in the online auction, with Terre Rouge expected to draw bidders with its magnificent use of colour and texture. Like most Raza works, a bold palette is used to abstractly express his view, this time of a French Village.

Raza's Terre Rouge
S. H Raza became India's most expensive artist in 2010, when his Saurashtra sold for almost $3,500,000 at Christie's. Terre Rouge is more modestly priced, with an estimate of $200,000-$300,000 CAD ($200,977-$301,465).
The Pop Art prints session will feature several Andy Warhol pieces, including his iconic depiction of actress Marilyn Monroe. The piece has been given a high estimate of $70,000 CAD with the anniversary of her 50th death approaching in late 2012.
Paul Fraser Collectibles has a wealth of Monroe memorabilia for sale, including this signed magazine cutting for those wishing to commemorate the beloved film star's death.
Warhol's work will sit alongside an unusual piece from fellow Pop Art giant Roy Lichtenstien. In this work, his trademark comic strip style is transferred via screen print to a white paper plate, with an estimate of $1,000-$2,000 CAD.
The auction will be the second time a Carlos Cruz-Diez piece is sold in the same week, with this Texas auction house selling his Physichromie no. 511 on April 25, 2012.
The optical artist's piece in this sale is Inducción Chromática from 1979. The estimate for this work is set significantly lower at the April 26 auction, at $90,000-$120,000 CAD.
Bidders will also have the chance to buy one of Dame Elizabeth Frink's smaller sculptures, with an estimate of $25,000-$35,0000 CAD. Small Eagle, a bronze by the sculptor, may exceed estimates, with a larger piece due to sell at Sotheby's in May, as part of their Jerwood Sculpture collection auction.
Overall, Paul Fraser Collectibles expects this online auction to see strong interest. Given the provenance and timing of the pieces, and that the auction is to be held online opening it to bids from across the world, the sale could offer some excellent results.
