A piece of toast eaten by One Direction's Niall Horan has attracted bids almost $100,000 in an Ebay auction that saw fans frantic to grab a taste of stardom.

The toast was smothered in the Australian favourite, Vegemite in an interview with the band on a morning television show. The young Irishman soon spat out the divisive slice, prompting broadcaster Seven to sell the uneaten half on Ebay. The toast was auctioned to raise money for the charity, YoungCare.
The listing read: "Please note: The item is perishable and although we will package it so that tampering is evident, we do not advise that it is consumed. We will not be including the mouthful that Niall spat out - because that's just gross."
Bids started at just $0.99, reaching $1,000 in just under three hours. An anonymous bidder is said to have submitted a succession of quick bids, culminating at $99,999 which was then equalled by another buyer.
It is not yet known if the bids were genuine, however all will be revealed when the auction closes on Saturday (April 14, 2012).
The toast is just one in a series of bizarre celebrity items to be sold at auction. A grilled cheese sandwich bearing the image of the Virgin Mary sold for $28,000 to GoldenPalace.com, an online casino. The casino is well known for snapping up these "interesting" items, they also purchased a $523 jar of air supposedly exhaled by Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.
Paul Fraser Collectibles has an excellent range of celebrity memorabilia for sale, including a host of famous hair, including teen star Justin Beiber's lustrous locks. All of our items have considerably greater provenance than a jar of air, and are unlikely to go mouldy!
