An Oakland, California auction house is to present its annual two-day sale on September 8-9, featuring prints and originals from top artists such as Wassily Kandinsky, Francis Bacon and Gustav Klimt.

The artworks featured in the sale have all been sourced from prominent private collections and US museums, such as the Museum of Fine Art in Houston and the Montclair and Honolulu Art Museums.
Highlighting the sale will be a framed graphite sketch on paper from Gustav Klimt, the famed Austrian creator of The Kiss. His Kopf des 'Wohlgerusteten Starken', Ornament und verzweifelter knieder, a sparse portrayal of an anguished character on his knees, will sell with a $40,000-60,000 estimate and is expected to provide the auction's top lot.
Following this will be a fantastic lithograph from Francis Bacon. The triptych, entitled Orestia of Aeschylus, was named after a trilogy of Greek tragedies written by Aeschylus and is a classic representation of the artist's work. It is expected to bring $8,000-12,000.
The current world record for Bacon's work at auction is held by another trio of paintings, simply entitled Triptych 1976. The work sold for an impressive $86.3m in 2008 to Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich.
Elsewhere, Lithographie Bleu, a 1922 work from Wassily Kandinsky will sell with a $6,000-8,000 estimate. Paul Fraser Collectibles expects the work to exceed this modest estimate, given the current hype surrounding the sale of his Studie fur improvisation 8 in November at Christie's.
Paul Fraser Collectibles is also currently offering some great mid-range pieces for art collectors. One of the highlights of our collection is a superb sketch from Salvador Dali - a fantastic opportunity to invest in one of the world's most renowned artists.
