This January 28, a New York auction house more in the habit of offering jewellery, art and antiques is offering a specialty sale featuring rare U.S. and foreign stamps and coins.
The coin section of the sale will feature several lots of U.S. gold, silver and platinum mint proof sets mostly dating from the 1990s and earlier 2000s.

Lots of numismatic interest will include a 1907 U.S. gold $10 Liberty coin, a 1905S U.S. gold $5 half eagle, a 1922 U.S. $20 gold double eagle, a 1997 platinum $100 American Eagle proof bouillon coin and one lot of (four) U.S. platinum Eagle coin set.
Also in the offering will be several lots of Franklin, Liberty and Kennedy silver dollars, which will sell for their silver content more than their numismatic value.
One surprising highlight is a Greek silver Macedonian Alexander the Great III Tetradrachm. Whilst this will not be one of the highest quality ancient coins sold in recent times given that it will be compared with the Arethusa tetradrachm and even the Pantikapaion gold stater, it will keep collectors of ancient coins interested.

Ancient coin collectors will also want to take a look at this superb silver tetradrachm coin from Rhodes, 410BC away from the sale.
The stamp arena will offer many lots of Scandinavian countries Norway and the Faroe Islands which will include classics and years 1855-1970s.
There are also many highlights from the Iceland Scott Catalogue, Danish West Indies 1856-1915, Sweden issues and Greenland 1938-1975.
