Leading Ferrari expert, Wayne Sparling, shows us his $1.27m Ferrari 275 GTB/4 Alloy Berlinetta

Unsurprisingly, three exceptionally beautiful machines sold as the three most valuable lots at RM Auction's Automobiles of Amelia Island sale, last weekend.

Behind the majestic 1930 Duesenberg Model J Murphy Sport Berline from John O'Quinn's collection of superb automobiles, sold for $1.7m, were two remarkable Ferraris.

One of these, the 1967 Ferrari 275 GTB/4 Berlinetta, painted in unmistakeable Fly Yellow, commanded a final value of $1.65m.

Third, but by no means least, was another 1967 Ferrari 275 GTB/4: this time the Alloy Berlinetta, which we first reported on in January.

Finished in an unusual Nocciola colour, the 275 boasts coachwork by Scaglietti and was displayed as Luigi Chinetti's show car at the 1967 New York Auto Show.

The automobile has been recently restored by its current long-term owner, Wayne Sparling, a Ferrari expert and authority who owned and maintained the 275 for 30 years.

Billed as "ready for any show, rally or track event," the 1967 Ferrari 275 GTB/4 Alloy Berlinetta commanded an incredible final hammer price of $1,265,000 at last weekend's event.
