The legendary British bike was the last of the Series C to be produced by Vincent, following the introduction of Series D. The Series D range officially went into production at the start of 1955, but for the first few months of the year the company still made a scant number of Series C.
Confirmed by the Vincent Owners' Club as the very last of its kind from February 1955, the bike is a must-have item for collectors of the British firm. The company closed just one week before Christmas in 1955, with its final motorcycle entitled, "The Last".
The 1955 Vincent Black Shadow Series C made £124,700 in the Bonhams sale, which is believed to be the highest price paid for the motorcycle at auction. You can read more from the record-breaking sale here.
The Bonhams Important Collector's Motorcycles sale realised a total of £2.2m at the 32nd International Classic Motorcycle Show in Staffordshire.
