'A car with plenty of style and power' - an Oldsmobile 98 draws into Mecum's sale
Limited in production due to events in Korea, a rare example of this classic is now available
Here's another highlight from Mecum's upcoming Kissimmee, Florida, US, sale: the 1952 Oldsmobile 98 Convertible 303/160 HP, automatic.
Although restricted in number by production limitations caused by the Korean conflict, the 1952 Oldsmobile 98 was a car with plenty of style and power.
This 98 convertible was restored to Concours condition by its second owner, who refinished it in its original Regal Turquoise Iridescent over beautifully straight sheet metal and renewed the chrome and stainless to exacting standards.
The car's 4-barrel, solid-lifter 303/160 HP V-8 and Super Hydra-Matic transmission have been restored to factory specs. Factory equipment includes power steering and brakes, power windows, seat and top, deluxe radio, Autotronic eye, dash mounted compass, a steering wheel mounted self-winding Marr clock and fender skirts.

The car was well-known for its low production and horsepower, with the production limited due to American involvement in Korea. As a result only 3,544 Ninety-Eights produced in 1952.
This example was purchased from original owner and treated to a concourse level complete body-off, nut and bolt, restoration and the lot even includes the original bill of sale, title and a storyboard.
It boasts excellent body fit and finish which complements the laser straight body panels.
Power steering, power windows, power seat, power top, power brakes complete the classic, which sells during Mecum' s auction in Florida which takes place January 26-30.
