Bronte sisters painting Edwin Landseer

Bronte sisters painting back on the block at $47,318

An unknown painting of the Bronte sisters is to auction on May 24

A previously unknown painting of all three Bronte sisters is to auction on May 24, after its initial sale was cancelled to allow for further research into the piece.

Sir Edwin Landseer Bronte Painting
Is this the work of Sir Edwin Landseer?

The work was originally due to sell in Northamptonshire, UK at the end of April, but was withdrawn from the sale after a collector came forward with information relating to a similar piece by Sir Edwin Landseer, one of the 19th century's greatest artists.

After extensive research, the watercolour has now been attributed by a team from the National Portrait Gallery, who have confirmed its link to both Landseer and the renowned literary sisters.

Here at Paul Fraser Collectibles, we ensure that our stock items are fully researched and have impeccable provenance, that's why we provide a 120% investment guarantee to give you confidence in your investment.

The painting is expected to see bids in the region of £20,000-30,000 when it is finally brought to auction on Thursday.

The auction comes following the record sale of a rare manuscript by Charlotte Bronte at Sotheby's in December 2011. This important sale has seen an array of Bronte related items come to light, with the Northamptonshire auction house selling another painting of Charlotte for £23,836, also in December.

There is a superb selection of rare manuscripts on offer over at PFC Auctions' current sale, which also closes on May 24.
