Beatles autographed flight menu soars to $9,473

The autographed menu from the Beatles' B.O.A.C flight achieved $9,473 on May 19

A menu autographed by all four members of the Beatles has sold for £6,000 ($9,473) in a Cheshire, UK memorabilia auction on May 19.

The sale was highlighted by Beatles memorabilia, featuring several signed items from the Fab Four.

The menu was taken from the Beatles' Bahamas Special B.O.A.C flight from London to New York in 1965, while filming for their second film, Help! 

The autographs, which were sold in a lot with newspaper clippings, a route map and a postcard for the trip, reached the high end of their estimate of £4,000-6,000.

The value of signed photographs of the group has continued to grow of late, with the PFC40 Autograph Index reporting 6.67% increase from 2010-2011.

This Ringo Starr signed photograph over at PFC Auctions offers a superb opportunity for collectors, with a minimum bid of just £200.

The original printing plates used for John Lennon's first book, In His Own Write, realised £4,800 ($7,578). The plates, which were used to produce the illustrations for the book, provide a unique piece of Lennon memorabilia.

This John Lennon owned suitcase provides another such example at great value. PFC Auctions is currently seeing bids in the region of £1,300 for the item, which was originally sold by Lennon's wife Cynthia.

A low-numbered edition of the White Album further demonstrated the continually high value of the band at auction, when it achieved a 50% increase on estimate. The #0000023 LP was originally estimated at £600-800, before selling for £1,200 ($1,894).

A copy of the White Album numbered #0000005 copy sold for around $19,201 ($30,319) on Ebay in 2008. The album was originally released in an edition of 10m.
