Michael Jackson was always one of the greatest popstars of his and perhaps any generation, and since his premature death in 2009 interest in the star's memorabilia has been enormous.
This is obvious if you look at the value of his autograph on the PFC40 Autograph Index. The value of a signed photo of Jackson has increased by 585.7% since 2000 and 60% from 2010-2011 alone.
Now Bonhams is set to offer Property from the Collection of Dr. Arnold W. Klein in Los Angeles (January 23) including some high quality Jackson collectibles.
Klein, the noted Beverly Hills dermatologist, philanthropist, and ultimate Hollywood insider, was for many years a close personal friend and confidant to Michael Jackson and many other celebrities.
Particularly of note are eight and a half lines of writing, possibly lyrics, in Michael Jackson's hand (est. $3,000-5,000); a Versace leather jacket (est. $1,800-2,500) and a selection of hats (estimates range from $3,000-10,000) once owned by Jackson.

It will be interesting to see the value that collectors place on the sketchy 'lyrics'. In 2009 the handwritten lyrics to Beat It went under the hammer with a crazy estimate of just $2,000-4,000 only to sell for $60,000, so it's likely that the $5,000 listing will be beaten.
Collectors keen to get hold of a piece of Michael Jackson but without the several-to-many thousands of dollars that are likely to needed to catch the 'lyrics' at Bonhams will be pleased to hear that we have his autograph available and even a piece of the star's hair.
