Charles Manson Kray Twins letters auction

Manson, Reggie Kray letters sold in UK auction

Handwritten letters from Charles Manson and Reggie Kray have sold at an auction in Scotland

Handwritten letters from notorious felons Charles Manson and Reggie Kray have sold at auction in the UK.

A handwritten four page letter from killer Charles Manson, who has been behind bars since 1969, sold for £400 at the August 16 sale.

"The pubic (sic) are bought and sold on jelly beans... would get their babies, cut their tongues out and break their eardrums and create a chamber of nothing", he writes.

"The biggest deceiver is words of religion, they come in all forms with words... but what they are saying is that they need your soul".

A 20-page document from Reggie Kray, one half of the London twins who controlled gangland London in the 1960s, sold for £200.

In the 1998 dated document he compels former gang members to "go to work for the fee", adding "I'm so proud of all you've achieved."

He signs off: "Take care, God bless, affection, yours Reg."

Its date suggests that Reggie was still taking an active interest in affairs on the outside, just two years before his death.

Believed to have been written partially in code to prevent authorities intercepting its true meaning, both it and the Manson letter were consigned from the murderabilia collection of crime author Steven F Scouller.

Despite their notoriety, and enduring popularity in some circles, Kray twins memorabilia is a relatively inexpensive buy, as this auction demonstrates.

40 examples of their prison artwork sold for £17,000 in July, while letters from Reggie Kray to his one-time girlfriend made £1,100 in November 2011.

We have the memorabilia collection from Britain's longest serving hangman Albert Pierrepoint currently available.
