Madonna

Madonna's 'Who's That Girl?' bustier achieves superstar status at $72,000

The Material Girl’s bustier led this top auction at five figures – but we’ve got one priced at just $12,715

As we've reported, Julien's Legends auction in Macau was offering an impressive variety of music memorabilia including some from Madonna, Elvis and the Beatles at the weekend (October). The Material Girl certainly made her presence felt.

A signed copy of her 'sex' book brought $3,200, presumably in part due to the increasing value of her signature according to the PFC40 Autograph Index.

But amid the photographs and a recording of Madonna singing 'Simon Says' with her band, lay what bidders really wanted: a Jean Paul Gaultier bustier that she wore for her 1987 Who's That Girl? tour.

Given the gentle estimate of $6,000-8,000, the star's underwear danced past that to a spectacular $72,000.

It's not as though we really needed any reminder of the ongoing fascination that Madonna can generate. Just yesterday an obsessive fan, Grzegorz Matlok, was locked away after he had twice broken into Madge's houses.

The stalker travelled all the way from Poland for the privilege of breaking into her Marylebone, London, home and rifling through her belongings.

A bustier signed by Madonna which was at Landmark Studios during the rehearsals there for Madonna's "Blond Ambition" tour is on offer right here at Paul Fraser Collectibles.

It may well have been worn by Madonna during the rehearsals, and was signed by her at that time. It is today on offer to you for just £7,950 ($12,715).
