Cuno Amiet's 1925 work Brustbild einer Dame (Irene) is expected to be the highlight of the modern pieces at a major art auction taking place in Munich, Germany on April 27 and 28.
Estimated at €25,000-30,000 ($39,810), the work displays the influence of Amiet's idol Ferdinand Hodler.
Amiet was one of the leading lights of the modern artistic movement in his Swiss homeland, and is famed for his use of colour.

His works have been producing strong showings at sales in recent years. Amiet's 1908 Oschwand achieved $844,800 at Sotheby's in 2001, while Stilleben from 1907 made $688,020 at the same auction house in 2006.
Pablo Picasso's lithograph Homards et poisons, estimated at €18,000-20,000, and Hermann Hesse's watercolor Montagnola, valued at $16,000-22,000, will also feature prominently.
The pre-sale estimates suggest that it could be the perfect auction for the new art buyer, looking to take his or her first steps into the market.
"This not only offers opportunities to increase an existing collection, it is also a great way to start a first own collection," said Robert Ketterer from the auction house.
Paul Fraser Collectibles currently has several investment-grade pieces of art available, coupled with the expertise to advise those new to the scene.
Several contemporary pieces will also figure at the Munich sale, most notably David Schnell's large egg-oil tempera piece Raps, which will arrive with a $30,000-40,000 valuation.
We will bring you all the key results from the auction next month.
